Our journey started with Cooking Wine when we were able to provide chefs with access to genuine wine for cooking at a 40% saving, compared to bottled equivalents. We continue to supply wholesalers with around 100,000 litres of Cooking Wine a week. As you can imagine, this is good business but as an organisation committed to excellence, we have never sat on our laurels and we have continued to produce innovative products. From cooking spirits to glazes, from cold brew coffee to cooking ale and cider, we have always endeavoured to Serve our industry Better.
Part of our growth strategy was to always be able to ensure ultimate control of our production processes and to that end we built our own food processing plant in 2015. Based in Ringwood, Hampshire, our facility has been awarded BRC AA accreditation. While the two-day audit is intense, it is actually a year-round process and being part of the BRC family is a source of great pride amongst everyone in the company.
After 27 years Gourmet Classic the inventors of cooking wine in the UK are breaking into the vinegar market for food service. GC have ordered a fully automatic jerry can filling line from a UK manufacturer and have even partnered with a UK injection moulding company to blow our own PET plastic bottles 5 and 2 litre, along with the cheaper jerry can we can compete with anyone else in this market. In fact we expect a price war on this product for market share in the first two years.
Managing Director Angus I’Anson said in an interview, Gourmet Classic are bigger and better than any Cooking wine company in the UK and can buy in bulk and pack faster than anyone else in vinegar market this will bring cost savings which we will pass onto the customer. We have 9 mainstream vinegars available in 4 different types of packaging. The 2.5 litre and 5 litre jerry can is in stock now and available to buy now.
